Note: These Paddles are not CSKC events. Contact Walt Thompson for additional information.
These are not organized events. Experienced paddlers only. As there is no "trip leader," paddlers accept responsibility for themselves. Paddles are usually one to 2 hours...depending on singing, baying, being in awe and thirst. Tailgate parties following the paddle have been known to occur. Each paddle will be on the Saturday night closest to the date of the 100% full moon. Those who join in these informal outings generally paddle north to the north side of Little Stony Point Park...away from the lights of Cold Spring. After the paddle, the Depot Restaurant may be another destination.
Wild stories...outlandish tales...hard-to-believe recounting of previous outings are encouraged.
BTW, many have heard or seen unusual sounds & sights at night-time in this specific area of the Hudson Highlands. As soon as possible after returning home, these should be reported and recorded...agents are standing by.
The following data is based on http://aa.usno.navy.mil for Newburgh, NY. I also googled moonrise and...In addition to wearing a PFD, each Participant MUST have a 360 degree white light with suction cup for the stern of her/his kayak. Most kayak outfitters (including Hudson Valley Outfitters and Pack and Paddle) have them. See the list of suppliers at http://www.hrwa.org
